A Declining Economy Taking Its Toll On Popular Plastic Surgery Procedures

With the current economy money is tight and many people are cutting back on their spending, which in turn affects nearly every industry in the United States, and in some cases, the world. The cosmetic surgery industry has hit harder than other industries. This is most likely due tot he fact that most every plastic or cosmetic surgery procedure performed today is considered an elective surgery- or in other words- not a necessary surgery procedure required to maintain life.

Over the past few years, the plastic and cosmetic surgery industry has experienced a steep decline in the number of all procedures performed, but especially the very popular procedures such as Breast enhancement, Body contouring procedures such as liposuction and Abdominoplasty. In reality, it is no real secret why these ever-popular surgical procedures have suddenly become less popular. elective surgeries such as these can cost thousands of dollars, and most people are looking for less expensive solutions for looking younger.

Tummy Tuck Surgery Creates Positive Change in Your Appearance

Abdominoplasty surgery, also referred to as a tummy tuck surgery, is a plastic surgery procedure designed to remove the excess fat tissue, trim and tighten the the abdominal skin and tighten the muscles of the abdomen in the mid to lower abdominal region providing a trim, fit looking mid section.

For women who have had more than one pregnancy, often times experience sagging skin in the abdominal region due to the skin stretching as the belly gets larger during pregnancy. When performing this plastic surgery procedure, the plastic surgeon lifts away the sagging skin, and stretches the skin downward toward the pelvis. The plastic surgeon will remove the excess skin, and the scar will generally rest at the "bikini line." At this time, the surgeon will also remove excess fat tissues and tighten the abdominal muscles using stitches. In many cases, the abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck procedure requires moving the position of the navel upwards to compensate for lost abdominal skin. This procedure is often performed in combination with a liposuction surgery procedure of the thighs, hips love handles to enhance the overall result.

Is Santa Monica, CA, Abdominoplasty Right for You?

When should you undergo a tummy tuck? First and foremost, only a qualified surgeon can definitively answer that question for any given patient. There are some generally applicable details, however, that are useful to know about tummy tucks (also called abdominoplasty). Santa Monica Abdominoplasty

First, abdominoplasty is not a means of weight loss. It can be useful once the weight is lost, but the best abdominoplasty candidates are already in relatively good shape and just have a fat deposit or loose abdominal skin that does not respond to diet and exercise. The abdominal wall muscles are tightened during a tummy tuck, making the procedure particularly advantageous to women who, through pregnancy, have stretched their bodies beyond its ability to fully recover. This also makes abdominoplasty one of the most "uncomfortable" procedures, usually requiring a hospital stay during recovery. The extent of scarring depends on how extensive the procedure is. Incisions are made in inconspicuous real estate, but it's safe to assume that if someone cuts your belly open, there will be scarring.

Generally an elective procedure, abdominoplasty shares at least thing in common with all surgery; there is the risk of complication. A frank conversation with your plastic surgeon is an important step toward understanding what you face. Recognized as one of the top aesthetic surgeons in the U.S., Dr. Steven Teitelbaum provides Santa Monica abdominoplasty patients comprehensive care.

Body Contouring Procedures Like Tummy Tuck And Lipoplasty Are Performed To Create A Better Contour

A liposuction procedure is used to remove localized areas of fat that surround the buttocks, hips, thighs, abdomen, upper arms, neck, calves, and knees. Patients who receive liposuction surgery are typically looking to improve the contours of their figure - both out of and in clothing. The plastic surgery procedure itself is performed with a thin metal tube called a cannula. The cannula is inserted beneath the patient's skin and it's used to vacuum the fat away from certain irregular contours around one's body.

Liposuction - Southern California

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, there were over 10 million surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures performed in the U.S. in 2008, compared to just over 2 million in 1997. Hardly. Where surgery is concerned, no matter how common the procedure, there is always the unique aspect of the patient. Prior To Your Abdominoplasty, Your Cosmetic Surgeon Will Explain The Risks Associated With The Procedure

An abdominoplasty, or sometimes referred to as a tummy tuck, is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures available. A tummy tuck is capable of removing excess fat and skin and may also tighten the abdominal muscles to create a tight, smooth, better contoured waistline. In most cases it can also restore separated or weakened muscles. A good candidate for a tummy tuck will have excess or loose skin due to pregnancy, weight loss, or loss of skin elasticity from aging or stretch marks. The surgery is often combined with liposuction to the love handle areas to provide a better contour to the entire waistline. Also, it is commonly performed along with a breast augmentation procedure and liposuction. These three procedures performed together is often referred to as the "Mommy Makeover." Your decision to have an abdominoplasty performed is extremely personal and you will have to decide if the benefits of surgery will achieve your goals and if the potential complications and risks are acceptable.

A Tummy Tuck Procedure Is Offered By Cosmetic Surgeons To Enhance A Person's Abdomen

Your plastic surgeon will take a complete medical history and will also conduct a careful examination in order to evaluate your general and overall health. With an ideal tummy tuck, the patient will have no health problems, and he or she will only wish to remove any excess deposits of loose abdominal fat or skin. Any person who is on a weight-loss plan should be close to their target weight that they have set before they have the surgery performed. Women who are planning any future pregnancies should delay receiving a tummy tuck, as pregnancy stretch the abdomen again.

A Garment For Compression Will Be Recommended By Your Cosmetic Surgeon After Suction Lipectomy

After a liposuction procedure, the patient will go home with a compression garment that covers the treated areas. Compression of the areas where liposuction has been performed is recommended for about a month since it will help reduce swelling after the procedure. After the pain and soreness have decreases, it will be more comfortable to wear lycra or spandex exercise pants. Initial discomfort after the liposuction surgery can easily be controlled with oral medication. Bruising and swelling usually subside after two to four week and the final results of the procedure will be noticeable after around two or three months.

UAL Performed By A Plastic Surgeon Allows For A Safer Removal Of Fat

Plastic surgeons use UAL which allows for a safer removal of a larger amount of fat than what a standard liposuction procedure allows. The increase in safety is due to the smaller amount of blood removed with UAL. This means that UAL surgery can be extremely useful to someone who is only somewhat overweight even though the procedure is not meant for weight loss. Ultrasound assisted liposuction was created to improve the proportions and contour of the treated areas, resulting in a more flattering figure or physique.

Commonly Involved Areas Of Liposuction Include Thighs, Upper Arms, Trunk, Abdomen, And Waist

You are likely a good candidate for liposuction surgery if you have an excess amount of subcutaneous fat, which is resistant to diet and exercise. Liposuction may also be something you desire if you would like to change the contours of your body. The most common areas on the body that liposuction is performed on are the armpits and upper arms, male breast/chest, the anterior part of the neck, thighs, waist, hips, ankles, calves, and trunk. Two Forms Of Surgery For Post-Partum "Tune-ups"

The birth of a child is one of the most exciting events in a woman’s life. However, it is often distressing, especially to first-time moms, when their bodies do not spring back into pre-pregnancy shape, often leaving them with sagging breasts, stretched abdomens, and an overall matronly feeling. Motherhood now has a new shape. Thanks to advances in cosmetic surgery, postpartum mothers can now reclaim their bikini bodies faster than ever before. Many women, although ecstatic about newfound motherhood, are riddled with insecurity after childbirth due to excessive weight gain in areas which may not have been troublesome before. Women primarily seek two forms of surgery as post par tum “tune-ups”— abdominoplasty (commonly referred to as a tummy tuck), and breast enhancement surgery(including breast lift and breast augmentation).

Unlike women who are simply overweight, pregnancy puts a certain strain on the body which cannot always be com bated by diet and exercise alone. The midsection of the abdomen can be compared to a girdle, a garment which is composed of an elastic portion which, when stretched, is likely to become one size too big. In the abdominal section, women often lose the desired “girdling” effect after childbirth, which can occur in varying degrees. Pregnancy not only weakens the muscles, but stretches out the connective tissue, which for most women will not revert to original form on its own. A tummy tuck not only targets excess skin, but also works to re tighten the connective tissue so that the abdominal wall reacts to give the waistline a desirable indentation. Without tightening the connective tissue and exerting a girdling effect on intra-abdominal contents, women cannot achieve their pre-pregnancy appearance.

As with any surgical procedure, it is important that anyone considering a plastic or cosmetic procedure do their research and consult with a qualified and skilled surgeon such as Newport Beach Plastic Surgeon Dr Ackerman. Be sure to have all your questions answered and you fully understand the chosen procedure prior to having the surgery. There are numerous websites out there that provide good information about plastic surgery. The best one I have found is lookingyourbest.com. This free website offers a wealth of detailed and accurate plastic surgery information and even offers a free service to help those wanting plastic surgery locate an experienced and qualified surgeon in their area.

Cosmetic Surgeons Will Perform A Mini Abdominoplasty On Those Who Have Subtle Excess Fat And Skin

Los Angeles plastic surgeons perform mini tummy tuck procedures on patients who demonstrate subtle excess skin and fat in their lower abdominal regions. It can also be performed to remove previous surgical scars (such as a C-section). The scars are often much smaller than the traditional abdominoplasty or tummy tuck scar, and are well concealed within the bikini line. Additionally, the abdominal muscles can be tightened to improve the lower abdominal bulge. There is only a small percentage of patients that are a good candidate for the mini tummy tuck surgery.

About Abdominoplasty in Lindon, UT

Abdominoplasty in Utah - A tummy tuck operation involves making an incision that falls along the natural creases of the lower abdomen, usually correlating with the bikini line. The skin is then lifted away from the abdomen, creating a flap. Depending on the patient's unique situation, the navel may be moved, fat may be suctioned away, and excess skin is excised, or cut away. Scarring is minimized as much as possible by the incision's being located in a natural crease, and by the application of vitamins and adhesives, but a scar is to be expected whenever there is an incision.

Utah cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Kimball Crofts, reminds patients that planned future pregnancies and certain medical conditions can make an abdominoplasty unsafe. The best way to know for sure if you are a good candidate for this procedure is in a personal consultation with your plastic surgeon.

Palm Desert Liposuction Procedures

I believe fat has a sense of humor, and it's not the benevolent kind. You work hard every day, after all. You exercise, you eat right (you deny yourself that Bavarian creme filled pastry your mouth cries out for every time you turn around), and so you've gotten into shape and slimmed down. Except...

There's just that one spot that didn't get the pink slip, and it's messing everything else up.

Of course, that's where plastic surgery can step in and knock out the monster that's not letting go of you. Dr. Habash, a plastic surgeon in Palm Desert, CA, offers a wide spectrum of cosmetic procedures. The past decade has seen amazing leaps forward in the field of targeted surgical fat removal. Perhaps all you need to finally get rid of that bulge is to set a time to talk about liposuction in Palm Desert.

Abdominoplasty Is Designed To Smooth The Contour Of The Patient's Lower Belly

Over the past year or so, I have tried to exercise and diet to get rid of fat in certain parts of my abdomen. The problem is, that no matter how hard I try to get rid of it, there are problem areas that continue to be unaffected by the dieting and exercise. I finally decided that it would be worth my time to search for some sort of plastic surgery procedure that could possibly get rid of this extra fat that I could not get rid of myself.

While searching the internet I found a website called DoctorRose.com and on that site I learned about Abdominoplasty and how it "is performed to give the patient a smooth, lower belly contour. This is usually necessary after multiple pregnancies, major weight loss, or minor weight gain. Exercise and dieting often can not effectively control the “pooching out” of this area as the tissues have been too excessively stretched."

As I read more about this procedure I came to the conclusion that his was just what I needed to get rid of my problem and so I called up the surgeons office and set up and consultation to talk about my abdominoplasty surgery, and now I am well on my way to receiving an abdominoplasty surgery of my own.

Tummy Tuck Surgery in Los Angeles, California

Everyone wants a flat tummy. After all, that's what's sexy, right? There are a lot of methods out there. What method will work for you? Diet? Exercise? What about surgery, like abdominoplasty or liposuction? What's the difference between a tummy tuck and a mini tummy tuck? You can learn a lot about the mechanics of surgery on the internet, but if you really want to know how abdominoplasty would work for you, you need to talk about abdominoplasty with a board certified surgeon.

Liposuction is an effective way to remove fat cells, but that may not be sufficient. "After considerable weight loss or childbearing, the abdominal muscles are inexorably stretched. Once this occurs, tightening the muscle layer is frequently the only way to obtain a flat smooth abdomen," says Dr. Francis Palmer, who performs tummy tuck surgery in Los Angeles.

What You Should Know About Abdominoplasty Surgery

The tummy tuck is also know as an abdominoplasty. It is a procedure for people who have loose skin and fat folds of the abdomen from pregnancy or weight loss, stretch marks, or laxity in abdominal wall who want a flatter and firmer abdomen with an improved contour. Liposuction may be used in combination for added contouring benefits. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and often requires an overnight hospital stay. The scar will vary based on body shape and extends from the lower abdomen to as far as the lower back. Mini abdominoplasties are reserved for a select group of patients.

Mini-Abdominoplasty, sometimes called a mini-tummy tuck, may be performed on patients who only have a limited amount of loose skin or stretch marks in the lower abdomen and who would not need the tightening of abdominal muscles that is part of a standard abdominoplasty, although sometimes, the mini-tummy tuck may include it. However, if the patient has excessive fat but minimal or limited looseness of the abdomen, the procedure may be performed in tandem with liposuction.

In most cases, women considering abdominoplasty should not be considering additional pregnancies, or they may have the need for a second procedure to re-tighten the belly. In many cases, a tummy tuck does help rid of stretch marks because it removes most of the "stretched out" skin below the navel.

Be sure to do your research and consult with a plastic surgeon prior to the surgery. Do not take this step lightly as all surgery procedures carry with them some level of risk. Fully understanding the procedure, what to expect from the results and knowing the associated risks can mean the difference between a successful surgery and a nightmare.

Abdominoplasty May Be The Answer For A Flat Stomach

A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty surgery, is a procedure in which loose hanging abdominal skin is removed and weakened abdominal wall muscles are tightened. While regular exercise and strict diet will help most people feel and look better, some problems, like a protruding belly, loose hanging abdominal skin, and weak abdominal muscles on both men and women may be fixed by a tummy tuck. Each year more than 80,000 American women and men undergo tummy tuck surgery. Women and men who have a protruding belly, loose hanging abdominal skin and weak abdominal muscles are candidates for a full tummy tuck.

If you are considering Abdominoplasty surgery, please make sure you consult with a qualified plastic surgeon prior to having the surgery. Ensuring that all of your questions have been answered, and you fully understand the surgery procedures, and the risks involved can mean the difference between a successful surgery and a nightmare.

The Economic Recession and Plastic Surgery

Everyone of us are feeling the pinch of the economy. Very few industries are actually flourishing in these tough economic times. IT seems that for the most part, plastic and cosmetic surgeons are also experiencing a drop in interest for plastic surgery procedures.

One Plastic Surgeon in California reports that while higher dollar invasive procedures such as breast augmentation, liposuction and tummy tuck surgery are down in number, the less expensive non-invasive procedures such as BOTOX and Facial Rejuvenation are becoming more and more popular.

To complicate matters, financial giants such as Capitol One are no longer offering medical loans. This change will not only affect aesthetic surgery, but it will also affect standard surgery procedures as wells as cosmetic dentistry, and more. Doctors such as Tulsa Plastic Surgeon Brian Whitlock offer financing from well known medical and health financiers such as Care Credit and Medloan.
