Is A Chemical Peel Right For You?

A Chemical peel procedure consists of a chemical solution applied tot eh skin in order to to improve the appearance and create a smoothing effect to the skin's texture. The Chemical solution will "strip away" the skin's damaged outer layers. In many cases a chemical peel procedure can be combined with a face lift surgery procedure.

It is important to note that a chemical peel procedure is not a substitute for face lift surgery and a chemical peel will not slow or stop the natural aging process Your plastic surgeon will provide information about certain types of chemical peel treatments and the results you might expect. It won't answer all your questions, since a lot depends on your individual circumstances. Once you and your plastic surgeon have decided on a specific peel program, be sure to ask about any details that you do not understand.

BOTOX Cosmetic in Hawaii

"If you keep making that face, it is going to stay that way permanently."

I remember my mom used to tell us kids that frequently, especially when one of us would make a frustrated face or dare to shoot mom an angry glance. Little did I realize that as I got older, Mom's wisdom would become more fact than fiction.

Every year we grow older, our skin also ages. Our aging skin along with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles are the result of what could be the combination of a multitude of various factors. In addition to the normal changes to our skin cells, the loss of hormones and decreased collagen production, we also experience changes to areas surrounding the face such as the brow/forehead area caused by muscle contractions.

We have all seen the effects that muscle contractions have on the skin. Are you familiar with those vertical lines that appear between your brows? Those are commonly referred to as "11's" and are the result from repeated muscle contractions. every time you concentrate, squint, or frown, the muscles that control your brow movement contract. Over time, this will cause the brow skin to furrow and fold. After years of repeated brow contractions, those 11's can begin to stay prominent, even after your brow muscles are relaxed. Gee, maybe Mom was right after all.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein that temporarily treats the fine lines and wrinkles caused by aging and muscle contractions by blocking nerve signals to the muscles in the treatment area. BOTOX® cosmetic achieves this by "stunning" the muscles, thereby reducing the muscle activity that is causing the prominent lines to form between the brows. A BOTOX treatment session consists of a few injection administered by your plastic surgeon. The procedure only takes a few minutes, and there is no down time.

Lip Augmentation In Kentucky

Lip augmentation is a procedure designed to increase the size of the lips in order to create a fuller and more attractive lip. The Lip Augmentation procedure is a safe procedure used by both women and men of all ages. Each lip may be treated separately from each other, or as a combined procedure.

In the last ten years, the lip augmentation procedure has become one of the more popular cosmetic procedures, especially among women. There are two main approaches to lip augmentation. One type utilizes natural or man made synthetic fillers to achieve the desired lip size. The results of using fillers are, in most cases temporary and repeat treatments will be required to maintain the result. Another approach is a surgical technique where the plastic surgeon relocates lip tissue from the inside to the outside of the lip.

Facelift Surgery Can Correct Sagging Facial Skin

As we grow older, our individual genetic history, exposure / over exposure to the elements such as the sun and wind, and other factors such as the use of tobacco, alcohol and drugs can actually alter our skin, thereby causing a loss of skin tone and elasticity as well as assisting in the development of wrinkles, fine lines and sagging skin around the neck, mouth, eyes and forehead. Folds in the skin become prominent around areas of the face such as the chin, and neck. Face lift surgery can correct these conditions by a plastic surgeon tightening the facial muscles and 'lifting' the facial skin.

Is A Filler Lift An Alternative To A Surgical Face Lift?

Many plastic surgeons believe that when the correct individual dermal filler, or in some cases, the correct combination of fillers to treat wrinkles, the results are very similar to those achieved from much more invasive procedures.

Dermal fillers widely accepted and used in modern cosmetic dermatology and cosmetic surgery procedures as an instant aesthetic treatment. A dermal filler treatment is one of a small number of cosmetic procedures that typically provide immediate results and a noticeable improvement and does not require down time like procedures such as a face lift.

These days there is a mind boggling number of choices when electing to have a dermal filler treatment. It is not an uncommon practice for a cosmetic surgeon to utilize a single type of filler to treat more than one area of concern.

New York Cosmetic Dermatologist Dr. Karyn Grossman states "Each individual dermal filler has qualities that differ from other fillers, and therefore provide different results. By utilizing multiple filler types to treat different areas of a patients face, and using the best filler for each treatment area, one can achieve the most beautiful and natural looking results possible."

Laser Resurfacing Procedures Are Gaining Popularity

These days, facial rejuvenation and skin resurfacing has become a viable and realistic alternate treatment to a face lift. This is due in part to the advancements of technology for the use of lasers in a medical setting. Following this, the advanced Fraxel laser is one of the most widely used lasers in plastic surgeon offices around the world.

This is because the Fraxel Laser treats only a very small area of skin at a time and does not break the protective outer barrier of the skin. When one compares this to traditional resurfacing procedures that strip away the entire top layer of the damaged skin and have a lengthy recovery period, it is not hard to see why modern laser resurfacing procedures are gaining popularity among more invasive plastic surgery procedures.

Facial Rejuvenation in Mountain View

A brow lift, also called a forehead lift or eyebrow lift, corrects the skin wrinkling and loss of tone that causes sagging of eyebrows and hooding of upper eyelids. A brow lift softens the deep creases across the forehead, reduces horizontal frown lines at the top of your nose and vertical lines between your brows. The result is a more relaxed and refreshed appearance. It is the only procedure that can increase the distance from the lateral brow to the upper eyelashes.

A brow lift is often performed along with a face lift or other facial rejuvenation procedures. Some people have brow lifts to correct aging problems, while others have inherited traits that cause them to seek treatment in their 20s or 30s. You may be a good candidate for a brow lift if you have any of the following types of conditions:
  • If you have drooping lateral brows that are close to or below your orbital bony rim
  • If you feel you always look angry or scowling
  • If you like your appearance and your brows and eyelids when you pull up your forehead with your fingers at your hairline above your lateral brows
  • If you desire the ideal benefits of facial rejuvenation and you are already considering a face and neck lift
For more information about the Brow Lift procedure, contact Dr. Pearl, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in Mountain View, California.

What Can Fat Transfer Do For You?

A fat transfer Procedure is an alternative to using dermal fillers to treating the fine lines and wrinkles that begin to appear around the corner of our mouths, eyes and cheeks as we age. Fat transfer can also be utilized for enhancing features of the body such as the buttocks and even the breasts.

During a fat transfer procedure, a plastic surgeon will utilize fat tissues removed from another area of the body, and then used to fill out the area being treated. One advantage of fat transfer over other injectable fillers is that the area treated will generally not need re-treatment as the initial results are permanent in most cases.

Eyes Are Noticed By Others Almost Immediately

The eyes of a person are one of the first things that others will notice about them. Regarded as one of our most important facial features, the eyes enable us to communicate and connect with others. Unfortunately, due to signs of aging and hereditary factors, eyes may be unable to communicate as effectively as we mature. If your upper or lower eyelids have puffy, drooping, or excess skin that makes you appear sad or tired, cosmetic eyelid surgery may be right for you.

Each Patient Has An Individualized Brow Lift Procedure

As it is with any surgical procedure, a forehead lift is individualized and based on several things. This will include things such as bone structure, skin quality, and muscle tone. A plastic surgeon will take all of the factors in to consideration before he or she makes a determination. The surgeon will determine the appropriate procedure or combination of techniques that will be able to create a face that looks more youthful and alert.

Choosing a Plastic Surgeon in Beverly Hills, CA

Dad used to walk right past the express lane at the grocery store every time. He would always say things like, "Would you rather wait behind twelve people with one thing each or one person with twelve things?" Apparently, there was a lesson in there about not allowing a gimmick to cloud one's awareness of the big picture. A corollary might presumably be drawn that there are certain things which, if not delivered satisfactorily, will never be worth having been chosen based on price.

Dr. Francis Palmer, a Los Angeles plastic surgeon, makes a similar point regarding the selection of a plastic surgeon. Whether you seek breast augmentation, liposuction, a tummy tuck, a face lift, or whatever; it's simply better to get it right the first time. Don't hesitate to ask pointed questions, get a bead on a doctor's aesthetic sensibilities, or get a second opinion if you're not sure he is up to the job. Once you've chosen the right surgeon, one can do the job right, you can then focus on lesser details.

What Can I Expect From a Dermal Filler Treatment?

In most cases, Dermal filler appointments will take about an hour. Most of this time will be with a numbing agent gradually numbing the skin. Sometimes when extensive lip treatments are being performed, we will opt to give a small, nearly painless, numbing injection to deaden the sensitive lip tissue prior to administering the dermal filler. In this case, your lip will remain numb for up to an hour following the session.

During the actual treatment you should be very comfortable, feeling only some mild pin pricks or stinging. Most patients are impressed at the ease of these treatments. If you are experiencing significant discomfort during the session please advise the plastic surgeon as there are often other remedies to ease any pain you might be feeling.

After the session a small amount of swelling and redness in the treated area is normal and to be expected. Typically the majority of this reactivity will be gone within several hours but on occasion can persist for several days. Bruising can occur. If you are susceptible to bruising or on blood thinners, please let your provider know prior to the treatment so extra precautions or recommendations can be made. Bruising will not affect the end result but can take up to 10 days to resolve when significant.

Cosmetic Surgeons Perform Rhytidectomy Surgery For Many Reasons

A face lift procedure will not be able to stop this process, but it is capable of "turning back the hands of time." A face lift (technically called a rhytidectomy) was created to reduce many of the heavy folds and wrinkles of a person's neck and face. The procedure will also improve the contour of a person's necklines and jaw. However, a rhytidectomy will not be able to completely removed every fold, wrinkle, and line. There is a limited amount of improvement around the eyes and with fine lines of the facial skin. A face lift alone will not be able to improve "smoker's" lines around the mouth, acne scars, or poor complexion. Other options are available to treat these various problems including chemical peels, dermabrasion, and laser treatment.

Performed By A Cosmetic Surgeon, A Rhytidectomy Turns Back the Hands of Time

A rhytidectomy is able to improve the most visible signs of aging by tightening and sculpting the deeper foundation and structures of the neck and face. As a person ages, the effects of sun exposure, gravity, smoking, heredity, weight fluctuations, and the stresses of daily life begin to show themselves in their face. A rhytidectomy procedure can bring back youth to a person's face. In youth, a face is smooth and firm due to proper positioning of normal facial fat and good skin elasticity. When a person ages, skin elasticity and muscle tone will weaken and facial fat will descend and cause prominent skin folds and deep creases between the nose and the corner of the mouth. A person's jowls become more prominent along with loose skin and fat deposits in the neck.

Cosmetic Surgeons Often Choose To Perform An Excess Skin Removal After The New Position Is Established From A Browlift Procedure

A forehead lift will set the eyebrows to a higher level and will stretch out the upper eyelid skin. A lot of the times, none of the skin will need to be removed, but if it does, many plastic surgeons choose to trim it later after the new brow position has been established. This is done so that the two procedures will not work against one another and eye closure will not become an issue. With a higher set eyebrow, patients will stop wrinkling their brows since there is no longer a need for conscious elevation.

You May Think You Need Cosmetic Eyelid Lift Surgery When You Really Need A Browlift

A lot of people go into a cosmetic surgeon's office and request an eyelid lift procedure to correct an excess of skin that they have in their upper eyelids. Often the problem will actually lie within their brow and a forehead lift is the answer. For these patients, the brow itself has fallen which has resulted in a "bunching" of skin in the upper eyelid area. An aggressive removal of skin during an eyelid lift will typically pull the brow down even further which will just make the problem worse and possibly create a weary or tired appearance.

A Plastic Surgeon May Choose To Create An External Incision For Your Lower Eyelid Lift Surgery

When excess wrinkles and skin are present around the lower eyelid, the plastic surgeon may choose to use and external incision approach. With this, the incision is made just beneath the lower eyelashes. This is easily camouflaged during the healing process. Through this lower eyelid incision excess muscle and skin, and even fat may be removed. The incision would then be closed with sutures that would be removed about a week after the procedure. Swelling and bruising are slightly more common with lower eyelid surgery, however the problems will typically resolve within a week. Regular activities may be resumed within one to two weeks.

Lower Eyelid Surgery Is For Patients With Prominent Fat Bags Of The Lower Eyelids

When a plastic surgeon performs a lower eyelid lift, patients are offered a gentle intravenous sedation from their anesthetist. This procedure can, however, be comfortably performed with only the use of local anesthetic. For any patient who has fat bags under their lower eyelids that are prominent and only have a small amount of excess skin or muscle, the blepharoplasty can be performed with no external sutures. Instead, the plastic surgeon can place an incision on the inner side of the lower eyelid and any extra fat can be carefully removed. No sutures are required for this approach, and patients will be asked to use a topical eye drop for a week after to aid them in their healing process.

Celebrity Face Lift Quick Recovery - Los Angeles, California

Medical science strides forward daily, and the improvements to procedures and outcomes continue to amaze. Just when you get used to the idea that your facial skin Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon and muscles can be tightened for a more youthful appearance, they find a way to cut down the recovery time for your facelift. According to Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Doctor Francis Palmer, "when the proper facial aesthetics are followed, the incisions [and] the tissue dissection can be limited which in turn means there will be smaller scars, less bruising and swelling and a shorter recovery time. This is the idea behind the creation of our 'Celebrity Lift™' that can make you look 10 years younger in less than 90 minutes with a recovery time that’s measured in hours, not weeks." The key, says Dr. Palmer, "is addressing the central portion of the face, the cheeks. The nasolabial folds are reduced and the cheeks are properly shaped using cheek implants or fillers like Radiesse or Perlane."

Certainly this should appeal to socialites, celebrities, business persons; really, to anyone who wants to look younger and doesn't have the luxury of spending a month or two out of sight while recovering. An added benefit Dr. Palmer points out is that, given reduced tissue dissection, "smokers and those with a long history of smoking may still be a candidate for this powerful, yet minimal incision facelift and necklift."

Your Plastic Surgeon Will Make Sure That Your Facelift Procedure Is Individualized For You

A face lift procedure is very individualized. In your initial consultation with your plastic surgeon he or she will evaluate your face. This will include the underlying bone and skin. Then your doctor will discuss your goals for the surgery with you. He or she will then review your medical history and check you for any conditions that could possibly cause problems during or after the procedure. These conditions include uncontrolled high blood pressure, the tendency to form excessive scars, and blood clotting problems. You must be sure to inform your surgeon of all the vitamins, herbs, and medications that you are taking. If you smoke, your plastic surgeon will counsel you on the increased risks that are associated with smoking on healing and he or she will need to wait at least two months after you have stopped smoking to perform the procedure.

A Cosmetic Surgeon Can Reverse The Effects Of Gravity On Your Face With A Rhytidectomy

A face lift, technically called a rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is capable of "setting the clock back" on your face and neck. As any person ages, the exposure to the sun, the effects of gravity, and the stresses of daily life can be seen within their face. The jawline grows slack and jowly, deep creases form between the mouth and nose, and fat deposits and folds appear around the neck. A face lift is capable of improving the most visible signs of aging successfully by removing excess fat, re-draping the skin of your neck and face, and tightening the underlying muscles.

Non Invasive Procedures Are Becoming More Popular

With economy in its current state, many are reducing their spending, which affects almost every industry in the United States. The Cosmetic and plastic surgery industry has seen a bigger drop off than most other industries and this is due to the fact that most every plastic or cosmetic procedure available is to be considered an elective surgical procedure, and are not deemed necessary to a healthy lifestyle.

Recent trends have shown a quite noticeable reduction of the most popular plastic surgery procedures - Breast Augmentation surgery, Body contouring procedures such as liposuction and tummy tuck surgery, and face lift surgery have all seen a decline in the overall number of these procedures performed. Of Course is no secret why these popular procedures have recently become less popular. All of these elective surgery procedures can cost thousands of dollars, and most people interested in finding beauty through cosmetic surgery are now looking for less expensive solutions for looking younger.

Experts in the cosmetic surgery profession, such as Hawaii Plastic surgeon Dr de los Reyes, recommend less invasive procedures to achieve that youthful look without breaking the bank. These procedures include the ever popular BOTOX treatments, Chemical peels, and other facial rejuvenation procedures such as microdermabrasion, and laser skin resurfacing.

Plastic Surgery Q&A - Facelift Surgery

How long does a facelift usually last?

The length of time the results of a facelift procedure will last depend on a number of factors - the type of facelift procedure and surgical techniques used, the patient's skin type, aging, medical history, exposure to the elements, skin care regimen, how well a patient followed post operative instructions, alcohol use and smoking can all affect the longevity of facelift surgery results. The traditional answer is approximately ten years. However, taking into account the fact that the aging process cannot be stopped, anyone considering a facelift surgery procedure can expect to look better after a face lift procedure.

The best candidates for a facelift surgery procedure are men and women who are experiencing sagging skin in the face and neck area, even though their skin may still retain some of its natural elasticity.

A well-defined facial bone structure makes a facelift procedure more simple. While a facelift surgery procedure can be performed on patients in their 60's and 70's, the majority of patients undergo a facelift procedure in their 40's and 50's.

Following a facelift surgery procedure, a patient will still look like themselves, the procedure will restore a youthful refreshed look to the face and can also restore self-confidence. However, a facelift procedure will not restore youthful energy or vitality.

You Can Improve Your Sun-Damaged Skin With Laser Treatments

Currently, there are many lasers used for facial and skin rejuvenation and to treat sun damage and photo-aging of the skin. One older laser system, the carbon dioxide laser, has been very effective for treating sun damaged skin but has fallen out of favor. This is because it routinely caused extensive rawness of the skin that typically required over 2 weeks of “hiding out” or “downtime” to recover. In addition to the time it took to heal, it frequently caused skin discoloration and occasionally scarring. Many lasers available today require very little downtime and yield some improvement of the skin but are not nearly as effective as the carbon dioxide laser. As with any procedure, anyone considering laser skin treatments should first consult with a plastic surgeon prior to under going their chosen procedure.

For Forehead Lift Surgery Cosemtic Surgeons Use The Latest Surgery Techniques

Cosmetic surgeons use the latest in surgery techniques when they perform their Los Angeles browlift and forehead lift procedures. Brow-lifting procedures can elevate and reposition brows that have become tired and droopy, and can improve the wrinkles between the eyes and the forehead. According to Los Angeles plastic surgeon, Dr. Hoefflin, using the advances of endoscopy, several small incisions are created in inconspicuous locations behind a person's hairline, which will avoid any visible facial incisions. During the procedure, the forehead muscles above the eyes are elevated to smooth out excessive forehead lines, raise the eyebrows to a more pleasing level, thus creating a more youthful and balanced appearance.

Surgery of the Nose in Los Angeles, CA

Plastic surgery connects readily in the mind with breast augmentation and face lift surgery. Nose surgery may even quickly spring to the rhinoplasty nose reshaping pictureimagination, but often when I think of plastic surgery, the motivation behind it is always cosmetic. I was reading the web site of Santa Monica nose surgery Doctor, Steven Teitelbaum, and was reminded that there's more to the nose than meets the eye. Of course, there are cosmetic reasons to change the nose; it may be too large for the face it occupies, it may have a hump, or a bulbous tip or oddly shaped nostrils. There may also be deformities on the inside, however, which can cause difficulty breathing. Repair if these issues also falls on the plastic surgeon, and may even be covered by insurance. Perhaps a closer look at Los Angeles facial rejuvenation might even help a body breathe a little bit easier.

Inadequate Cheek Volume Can Be Filled By Cosmetic Surgeons With Cheek Augmentation

Plastic surgeons have outlined the important beauty differences as a means to quantify, identify, and evaluate the cheeks for a cheek augmentation using cheek implants. If a surgeon were to use the wrong size or shape of cheek implant, it may lead to a gender non-specific alteration of the face. Simply put, the cheek implants could make a male's face appear more feminine and vice-versa. According to Dr Francis Palmer, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, the cheeks should be augmented with cheek implants only when the ideal cheek shape isn't present and the individual is over the age of 18. There are many cosmetic surgeons that even prefer to wait until after a potential patient has lost all the "baby fat" still in their face in their 20's. And some plastic surgeons believe that other methods such as facial liposculpting may be used to further accentuate the cheek area prior to this time.

Plastic Surgeon - San Diego, California

The decision to pursue cosmetic surgery is a very personal one, and can be daunting. Choosing a doctor to provide your treatment is often every bit as personal and complicated a decision. All the same, there are some tried and true means of making your selection that improve your odds. One suggestion from San Diego cosmetic surgeon Dr. Karam of Carmel Valley Facial Plastic Surgery is to carefully review before-and-after documentation of your potential doctor's past work to determine whether you share his aesthetic taste. Speaking to others who have been treated by the doctor you are considering can give you an excellent indication of what you can expect your own experience to be like. For his own practice where he offers facial rejuvenation in San Diego, Dr. Karam states, "We pride ourselves on our open and honest dialogue with each of our patients and strive to provide every patient with all of the information and options they need to make the most informed and appropriate decision possible to achieve their aesthetic goals."

Could You Benefit From Laser Skin Resurfacing?

I am a big fan of the out-doors and being in the sun a lot and over time the elements have taken a toll on my skin, especially my facial skin. It had gotten so bad that it was difficult for me to look at myself in the mirror. I eventually became so sick of the way I look that I decided I would do something about it and search the internet for something to make my face look better.

While searching the internet I found a site called Keycare.com and on that website I learned about Laser Skin Resurfacing and how "The new CO2 pulse lasers are effective for treating fine wrinkles that occur with aging and exposure to the elements. We are using them for blepharoplasty and facial resurfacing either with or without facelift surgery. The laser also treats the vertical wrinkles that occur in the upper lip area. This new method for Laser Skin Resurfacing takes advantage of the ability of the laser to penetrate the skin to a precise depth. The consistency and degree of penetration affords an even effect over the entire treated area. The superficial skin is shed and new skin regenerates, providing a fresher, smoother appearance."

Soon after I was able to receive one of these procedures and I can say that I am very glad that I decided to do something about the way I look.

An Aged Appearance Can Be Lead To By Stress, Heredity, And Gravity

Everyone ages, and with age comes wrinkles and an aged appearance. An answer is provided for this by Dr. Daniel Golshani, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon. A glimpse at the new look of LookingYourBestThe first aspect of the new LookingYourBest.com that will surely catch the eye is the new layout and color scheme. The new LookingYourBest.com loads faster and is more intuitive than ever.

Blepharoplasty - Eyelid Lift Surgery in Atlanta, Georgia

Does the person peering back at you from the mirror look old and tired? It can be enough to drive a person to research what can be done about it. Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid lift surgery, removes extra skin that droops over the eyes and makes us look tired and aged. Dr. R. Morgan Davoudi, a board certified plastic surgeon, performs eyelid lift surgery in Atlanta, Georgia.

As we age and our skin loses its elasticity, it starts to wrinkle, puff, and droop. When the skin around the eyes puffs and sags, if it falls far enough it can impair your vision. As such, excising some of the skin from around the eyes can improve your vision as well as give you a more youthful and alert appearance. Discuss your goals with Dr. Davoudi. Dr. Davoudi most often performs blepharoplasty in Atlanta as an outpatient procedure.

Facial Rejuvenation: The Difference Between Collagen and Dermal Fillers

Cosmoderm (Human Collagen):
Human collagen does not require skin testing prior to treatment. Collagen is injected just under the surface of the skin to help soften the appearance of facial lines. It is also used to enhance the appearance of lips. Results are immediate and last between 2-4 months. Learn more about Collagen Injections.

Hyaluronic Acids:
There are 2 FDA approved hyaluronic acid dermal fillers available. They are Restylane® and Juvederm®. Juvéderm™ Ultra and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus are indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds). Side effects were usually mild to moderate lasting 7 days or less and included temporary injection site reactions like redness, pain, firmness, swelling and bumps.

The choice of which dermal filler to use is individual. Factors that influence this are: Areas to be treated, depth of wrinkles, skin texture and cost. A combination of dermal fillers and Botox® treatments can be performed at the same time. These options are best determined during a consultation with a skilled, experienced and qualified Plastic Surgeon. Be sure to have all your questions answered and you fully understand your chosen procedure prior to having the procedure. Do not take this step lightly. Proper pre-procedure planning and research can ean the difference between a successful result and a nightmare.
